[News] Space Shift CBO Speaks at Africa Investment Forum (AIF) 2025

Invited by the African Development Bank, our CBO, Tamao Tada, participated in the Africa Investment Forum (AIF) 2025 Market Days held in Rabat, Morocco, from November 26–28, 2025.
The Forum, themed “Bridging the Gap: Mobilizing Private Capital to Unlock Africa’s Full Potential,” serves as a premier platform for dealmaking across the African continent.
A diverse range of stakeholders—including investors, development finance institutions, commercial banks, insurance companies, government representatives, and business leaders—gathered to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation.

■Panel Discussion Participation
Tamao participated as a panelist in a side event co-hosted by the African Development Bank and the Government of Japan. The session was organized building on the success of TICAD 9, held in Yokohama in August 2025, and served as an opportunity at AIF to further demonstrate the strong partnership between Japan and Africa.
The discussion focused on the Enhanced Private Sector Assistance for Africa (EPSA) (※1), particularly the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA) (※2), a Japanese trust fund. Panelists discussed strategies for mobilizing greater domestic and international private capital, as well as blended-finance and PPP models that can scale private investment and generate sustainable impact.
While Space Shift has not yet initiated projects under FAPA, we introduced our ongoing initiatives in Africa and shared insights on how satellite data can reduce investment risk by providing objective and reliable information to investors and project owners. We highlighted its potential to accelerate private-sector financing.
In particular, although agriculture is central to Africa’s GDP and employment, investment in the sector remains significantly lower than in other industries. One key reason is the lack of opportunities for investors and financial institutions to obtain trustworthy on-the-ground data. Satellite analytics can help address this challenge by offering scalable, objective visibility across wide geographic areas.

■ Participation in AFAWA “Women’s Leadership Dinner”
We were honored to be invited to the “Women’s Leadership Dinner” hosted by Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) (※3). The event brought together women leaders and entrepreneurs from across Africa and around the world to exchange insights, foster empowerment, and explore opportunities for collaboration. AFAWA is a pan-African initiative led by the African Development Bank that aims to close the gender gap in access to finance for women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses across the continent.
The closed-door dinner gathered around 20 high-level participants. Each attendee shared their personal experiences related to women’s empowerment, followed by a meaningful discussion on cultivating the next generation of leaders.

◾️ Media Interview
During the event, we were interviewed by the African Development Bank’s TV media, among others. We hope that this opportunity helps more people learn about our business and our initiatives in Africa.
