[Press Release] Demonstration of Idle Farmland Detection Using Satellite Data × AI Space Shift Conducts Field Test in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture

Space Shift, Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Naruo Kanemoto; hereinafter “Space Shift”) has been selected for the 9th TRY! YAMANASHI! Demonstration Support Program promoted by Yamanashi Prefecture.
In collaboration with the Hokuto City Agricultural Committee, Space Shift will conduct a demonstration project to evaluate idle farmland using satellite data and AI-based analysis.

This demonstration utilizes Space Shift’s proprietary satellite-data analysis technology, Idle Farmland Detection AI, to improve automated detection accuracy of idle and degraded farmland in areas such as fruit orchards and hilly/mountainous regions within Hokuto City.
By accurately identifying deterioration and abandonment conditions of farmland, the project aims to enhance the efficiency of municipal farmland management operations.
Additionally, by reducing the need for extensive on-site surveys through remote-sensing technologies, the project is expected to help lower the risk of encounters with wildlife—such as bears—during field inspections.

Media Site Visit

Space Shift, together with Yamanashi Prefecture, will host an on-site media viewing of this demonstration project.
During the visit, AI analysis results, field verification activities, and interviews with project representatives will be presented.
