SateLab Activity Report

■ SateLab Approaches Its First Anniversary

SateLab, a co-creation program that aims to combine satellite and ground-based data to develop new businesses and address societal challenges, will soon mark its first anniversary since its launch in May 2024. The number of co-creation partner companies has grown from 11 at the start to 42 as of April 30, 2025—almost a fourfold increase—demonstrating strong interest in cross-industry collaboration in the satellite data business. In this activity report, we look back at SateLab’s achievements over the past year.

■ Key Initiatives Over the Past Year

Over the past year, we have advanced collaborations with many partner companies. While we cannot introduce all of them in this report, we are pleased to highlight three notable case studies:

  • NTT PC Communications Incorporated

Conducted a proof-of-concept using AI-based building detection analysis for digital twin development.

  • STANDAGE Inc.

Carried out a PoC for providing microfinance services in Nigeria using satellite data.

  • HALEX CORPORATION

Developed and tested an automatic satellite tasking system based on weather alert information.

■ Looking Ahead

Government agencies are also promoting collaboration between the space sector and non-space industries for satellite data utilization. As such, SateLab’s presence in the space industry is expected to grow further. We will continue to work with our co-creation partners to contribute to solving societal challenges through the use of satellite data. We also welcome new companies interested in joining SateLab. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested.
