[Blog] Presentation of SAR Simulation Research at APSAR 2025

APSAR

Space Shift participated in APSAR 2025 (Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar), an international conference held in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, from October 6 to 9, 2025.
We showcased our technologies through booth exhibitions, recruitment events, and a formal research presentation.

■ Research Presentation Overview

At the conference, we presented our latest research on SAR simulation technology, which is being developed in-house.

This technology leverages urban 3D models developed under national projects such as Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)’s Project PLATEAU, enabling the synthetic generation of SAR images under various observation conditions.

In this study, we focused on building disappearance detection. We trained an AI model solely on simulated SAR images and verified its applicability to actual satellite data.
The results demonstrate the potential of this method in a wide range of fields, including disaster response and urban change monitoring, where collecting real data is often challenging.
This technology is expected to serve as a key foundation for expanding and enhancing the competitiveness of our SAR analytics business.

■ Future Outlook

Space Shift will continue advancing new analytical approaches by combining SAR satellite data and AI technologies.
We aim to develop innovative solutions that address societal challenges in areas such as disaster prevention, urban management, and infrastructure monitoring.
